September 11, 2001

For nearly eight years, my uncle worked as one of the primary heavy equipment operators during the construction of the World Trade Center. My cousin's daughter went to work at her office, and at the same time, my sister parishioner boarded her plane to return home from summer vacation. The office was in the World Trade Center and the plane was America Airlines Flight #11. The day was Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Two people I knew, one a relative by blood, the other, a relative by faith, came together that tragic morning. Several other cousins, a business executive, two firemen and a police officer, were also directly involved in the profoundly tragic moment in our nation's history.
